Basic characteristics of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor

The demand for high-efficiency motors has increased recently. In particular, considerable attention has been focused on permanent magnet (PM) motors. Accordingly, we have studied the basic characteristics of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor (1 ⊘ LSPMM) that can be started as an induction motor and then operated as a PM synchronous motor in comparison to PM motors, which cannot be generally started using line voltage.
