A new distributed power balancing algorithm for CDMA cellular systems

A new distributed power balancing algorithm for CDMA is introduced and its convergence property examined. According to this algorithm, each base station only needs signal-to-interference ratios of its adjacent 6 cells to adjust its users' transmission power. It is shown that the algorithm provides advantages over conventional power control in terms of system capacity and is particularly attractive in the situation when a "hot" traffic spot develops.
