Automatic Decision Making of Washing Timing for the Polluted Insulators in Coastal Substations Using the Descriminant Function Based on the Conditional Probability Takashi Taniguchi, Member, Kaishi Izutsu, Member (Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.), Satoru Goto, Member, Masatoshi Nakamura, Member (Saga University) This study is aimed to develop a method of reliable automatic decision making for washing the polluted insulators in substations near coastal areas based on the actual data of human decision making, pollution deposits and weather information. The automatic decision making by use of the weather information is derived based on Bayesian rule of probability theory. Effectiveness of the proposed method is assured by a new technique which uses the modified actual data of pollution deposits and weather information.
