Developing a Simulator Applied to Audio Coding Process MPEG-4 AAC

This paper proposes the development of a simulator to find the internal parameters of the MPEG-4 Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), so as to optimize the perceptual audio quality for a given bit rate. The implementation of the simulator was developed in ANSI C programming language, using the Tabu Search and Genetic Algorithm in a hybrid structure. Through the minimization of the Average Noise-toMask Ratio (ANMR) metric, the simulator identifies the best configuration of internal parameters of the MPEG-4 AAC and improves the perceptual audio quality.
