Automatic logic generation for reconfigurable cell-based manufacturing systems

Abstract This paper presents a method to automatically generate the control logic for manufacturing cell controllers, using Modular Finite State Machines (MFSMs). Using the proposed method models can be automatically created upon choice of specifications, and used to run as controllers. They are based on a specified behavior between the cell controller and its supervisor, and are verifiably correct from their construction. The method has been implemented on a small manufacturing test bed at the University of Michigan.
