The 30-40 Day Oscillations Simulated in an "Aqua Planet" Model

Des experiences numeriques, faisant appel a un modele de circulation generale (MCG), ont ete effectuees pour voir la possibilite de generer une oscillation de longue periode (30-40 jours) en tant que dynamique collective de l'activite des cumulus (appelee «wave» CISK) le long de l'equateur, sur un globe recouvert par l'ocean. Resultats: il y a apparition spontanee d'une dynamique collective de l'activite des Cu en meme temps qu'une circulation est-ouest de nombre d'onde 1 (oscillation de 30 jours); les caracteristiques de cette circulation rappellent celles de l'oscillation 30-60 jours observee, cette oscillation de 30 jours est la superposition de 2 echelles: celle des figures de precipitation (super-amas) et egale au rayon equatorial de deformation, et celle de modulation de ces figures; le tout se deplace vers l'est a 15 m/s; il y a aussi formation spontanee d'une zone double de convergence intertropicale autour de l'equateur; entre les zones nord et sud, il se forme des super-amas, cependant qu'en dehors il se forme des cyclones tropicaux; enfin si on supprime l'humidite dans les experiences, l'oscillation de 30 jours degenere brusquement en ondes de Kelvin et de Rossly; ceci indique q'un intense couplage entre ondes equatoriales libres est necessaire au maintien de l'oscillation
