Quantum size effects in heat treated, Cd(S,Se) doped glasses

Abstract Fine semiconductor particles of different sizes can be grown in a doped glass by appropriate heat treatment. Changes in the corresponding optical absorption spectra result from quantum confinement effects. These changes are related to particle size and allow growth and coarsening kinetics to be determined.
