Surviving denial of service

As business models and global high value commerce migrate to the Internet, security concerns become paramount. While cryptographic techniques are able to address confidentiality, integrity, identification and repudiation issues, availability has been largely ignored outside of classic disaster recovery applications. On the Internet, denial of service has proven to be and will further become a major problem for both existing and evolving services. This paper suggests a model by which certain Internet based Denial of Services attacks and events may be successfully thwarted. 3
