Analytical approach considering modal coupling effects for buffeting resonant response of large-span roof structures

Resonant equivalent static wind load is usually described as the inertial force.Holmes proposed an equation for equivalent static wind loads of structures with multi-modes recently.But this method can't take modal coupling effects into account in the resonant response component.To overcome the shortcoming of this method,an approximate variance solution for resonant responses is derived,which leads to a modified SRSS method.Then the roof structure of Shanghai South Railway Station is taken as an example to show the accuracy of the method.The modified SRSS method considering modal coupling effects presented here lays the foundation for the equivalent static wind load of large-span roof structures.
