Simple evaluation of mutual slot couplings in a slotted waveguide planar array antenna

A slotted waveguide array is a very popular antenna in terms of its low transmission loss even at high frequency. However, by taking the mutual coupling into account makes its design difficult, in which case iterative experiments or complicated analysis using supercomputers are indispensable for parameter optimization. We propose a simple approximate design using an effective single slot analysis model, taking the array's mutual coupling in into account. The model dispenses with complicated analysis and realizes a simple design procedure. The design of a two-dimensional planar array for uniform aperture illumination is summarized.
