Analytical formulas for the design of orthomode transducers

This paper gives analytical formulas for the design OrthoMode Transducers (OMT) providing an accnrate synthesis over a band centered at an arbitrary frequency. The method is based on the symmetry properties of six-port junctions, as those used for such components. Although the bandwidth of the device depends mainly on the characteristics of the junction and tapers employed, nonetheless, the method also gives a gwd starting point for the design of wideband devices. A X-hand OMT is finally shown, as an example of application of the above theory.
