Real-World Applications and Research Challenges of Fog/Edge Services

The exponential growth in the Internet of Things (IoT) and rich availability of cloud services pushed the horizon of computing paradigm to Fog/Edge computing, where computing, storage, and network control can be carried at the edge of the network nearer to the end-devices. Fog/Edge computing provides security and privacy, reduces latency and saves network bandwidth. In this paper, we discuss some real-world applications of Fog/Edge computing and describe the research challanges and solutions for using Fog/Edge services in real-world applications.
