Surface Modification and Carbonation Curing of Iron Tailing Based on Granulation

To improve the utilization rates of iron tailing in staple building materials, we modified the surface of iron tailing on basis of the granulation technology, and studied the effects of compositions on the performance indices of recycled aggregates. Thereby, the effects of standard curing, steam curing, and carbonation curing were studied. The iron tailing recycled aggregates after carbonation curing had compact structures, relatively low proportions of pores and microfractures, and the smallest water absorption rate. When the mass ratio of cement to iron tailing sands was 3:4 and the pre-curing time was 28 d, the crushing index and water absorption rate of recycled coarse aggregates after 7 d of carbonation curing were 3.0% and 4.5% respectively.
