PURPOSE: A portable terminal and an operation method thereof are provided to include portability and an extended display. CONSTITUTION: A first body(100) includes a transparent display. A second body(200) includes a display. A hinge unit(300) is combined with a first body and a second body. The transparent display is operated as a transparent mode in a closed state. The display is operated as a first display mode in the closed state. The transparent display and the display are operated as a second display mode in an opened state.
