Research on the Effect of Radial Slots on Whistling Noise of Tungsten Carbide Circular Saw Blades

Whistling noise is the dominant noise source of a tungsten carbide circular saw blade,which is due to the self-excited vibration.This paper designed four different blade bodies(without radial slots,with four milled radial slots,with four laser-cut radial slots,and with four radial slots with copper cork).The results of the noise-measuring showed that the saws with copper corks did not emit a whistling noise in the rotational range,the other two different saws with four slots only eliminated whistling noise at the high rotational speeds.In addition,the aerodynamic noise of the saws with four milled slots with copper corks was 2-3dB(A) lower than the aerodynamic noise of the saws with four milled slots without copper corks.
