Non-motorized urban transport as neglected modes

This chapter asserts that the critical challenge to effectively address pedestrian and other non-motorized transport (NMT) needs in cities of the developing world requires a new declaration of policy planning and guidelines that offer real leadership by emphasizing the important paradigm shift required from current urban transport planning methods to an approach that includes the new focus of NMT and sustainable development. The author simultaneously advocates contributing to the goals of sustainable development by minimizing the need for motorized urban movement.
