Time-frequency vibration representation for steel mill condition monitoring

A conditioning monitoring and diagnostic system has been developed for a continuous steel mill production line. The capability of the system is enhanced by introducing the time-frequency sea maps of vibration signals based on the windowed Fourier transform in which matching windows, such as free oscillation functions, are selected for higher resolutions and a compression scheme in time and frequency domains is introduced to adapt different needs in time scales for representing and recording the large quantity of monitoring data.
