Disability and transport : A review of the personal costs of disability in relation to transport

It is often argued that disability imposes additional transport costs on the individual. Using OPCS and FES data, plus special tabulations for the Greater London area, this paper examines this proposition. It concludes that while wide variations in personal and household income make comparisons difficult, there is no firm evidence to support a generally stated hypothesis that personal expenditure by disabled people on transport is higher, because of their disability, than that of their able-bodied peers.
