PENGARUH METODE STORYTELLING TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA KELAS V GUGUS XII KECAMATAN BULELENG KABUPATEN BULELENG

The The aim of this study is to find out the difference of speaking skill between students who are taught by using Storytelling method and the students who are taught by using conventional teaching technique in Grade V students of Gugus XII, Kecamatan Buleleng, Kabupaten Buleleng in the academic year 2013/2014. The type of this study is quasi experiment. The population is grade V students in Gugus XII, Kecamatan Buleleng, Kabupaten Buleleng in the academic year 2013/2014, which are 185 students. While the sample is 35 students of grade V in SD No. 2 Banyuasri and 35 students of grade V in SD No. 5 Banyuasri. The data is collected by using observation method. The speaking skill data is collected by using observation sheet. The collected data is then analyzed by using descriptive statistic analysis and inferential statistic analysis (t-test). The results of this study show that there is a significant difference of speaking skill between students who are taught by using Storytelling method and the students who are taught by using conventional teaching technique, where the thitung is more that the ttabel (thitung>ttabel). The value of the thitung is 9.91 while the ttabel is 2.021. The comparison of the average calculation result of students’ speaking skill who are taught by using Storytelling method is 32.78, it is more that the average of students’ speaking skill taught by conventional teaching technique, which is 28.5.
