A low-cost high-power applicator for microwave recycling of waste tires

A design cycle and prototype tests of a high power industrial applicator for microwave processing of waste tires are presented in this paper. The applicator is developed as a continuous conveyor system intended to work in a 24/7 cycle with as short maintenance cycle as possible. In addition, low-cost 1kW power sources are applied to make the devulcanization plant costly competitive with alternative solutions.
