Suppose w(s)=p(s)/q(s) is a real rational function, with p(s), q(s) polynomials. This paper presents a test for the strict positive realness of w(-) expressed in terms of the values assumed by p(s), q(s) at a finite set of points s=j/spl omega//sub i/, i=0,...,N, /spl omega//sub 0/=0 and /spl omega//sub N/=/spl infin/. >
