Optimisation of slender steel members with web openings

Optimisation of steel beams with web openings is main subject of thesis. In the teoretical part, general features and failure mechanism of perforated beam are represented. Procedure of gradient method of optimisation is also explained. In the second part of thesis, the results for three practical examples of optimisation of constructional elements are showed. Optimisation was performed for interfloor beam and console for canopy. In the third example optimal form of opening was sought depending on its location. The finite element programme AceFEM was used, which support solving symbolically expressed problems with respect to their complexity. Numerical models included geometrical and material nonlinearities and initial equivalent geometric imperfection.
