Design and study of wide band antenna

This paper presented a coplanar waveguide-fed wideband antenna to meet the requirement for wideband applications. The antenna consists of a U-shaped monopole and two parasitic U-shaped elements and the impedance bandwidth is about 85%.The proposed antenna was printed on 20 mm×30 mm×1.6 mm polytetrafluoroethylene with relative dielectric constant 2.65.To meet the requirement of wireless area network and the WiMAX,reduce the interference of un-required signal, inserted a microstrip stub in the middle of the U-shaped radiation patch which produced a notch band. And the proposed antenna could meet the demand of WLAN,WiMAX,and lower band of UWB.The key parameters are simulated, analyzed and optimized using high frequency structure simulator(HFSS).The optimized dimensions of the antenna are obtained, fabricated and tested. The results show that the preference of the proposed antenna can be greatly improved compared to traditional microstrip patch antennas, and the feasibility and effectiveness of the CPW feed and the parasitic technology in designing wideband antenna is also verified.
