Methodology to Study Firms’ Strategies and Performance Over Time

The authors have previously studied technology firms’ strategies and perfonnance over time. New statistical methodology was developed and reported in a prior study. The objectives of this research were to develop classification schemes for strategies to better compare them; to identify new statistical methodologies for the longitudinal study of strategy; and to then apply the methodology in order to identify the relationships between Grand, Porter and Ansoff strategies to Miles and Snow typologies and firm performance.
