Trace confirmation with given object position

A new method of detecting the trace left behind by a moving object in a digitized image is developed and compared with the Hough transform of line detection. Under a very general condition, the new method is shown to be better. The implementation of this method to detect ships on SEASAT satellite pictures is also discussed.
