A f t e r K e n d a l l ' s d i s c o v e r y [1] of the p h o t o g r a p h i c p r o p e r t i e s of 1 p h e n y l p r a z o l i d 3 o n e , m a n y s u b s t a n c e s of t h i s e l a s s b e c a m e known. A t t e m p t s w e r e m a d e to e l u c i d a t e t he r e l a t i o n s h i p b e t w e e n the s t r u c t u r e and p h o t o g r a p h i c p r o p e r t i e s of t h e s e s u b s t a n c e s [2, 3] and the m e c h a n i s m of t h e i r a c t i o n was s t u d i e d [4]. It was shown tha t t he r e a c t i o n c e n t e r in the m o l e cu le of a 1 a r y l p y r a z o l i d o n e in t he d e v e l o p m e n t p r o c e s s is t he p y r a z o l i d o n e r i n g [4, 5]. The o b j e c t of t he p r e s e n t w o r k w a s the s y n t h e s i s of s u b s t a n c e s t he m o l e e u l e s of wh ich would con t a in two p y r a z o l i d o n e r i n g s . T h e s e s u b s t a n c e s could be of i n t e r e s t in the d e v e l o p m e n t of l i g h t s e n s i t i v e c i n e m a t o g r a p h i c m a t e r i a l s . The s y n t h e s i s of the f i r s t r e p r e s e n t a t i v e s of t h i s c l a s s t h a t we have e f f e c t e d [6] s t a r t e d f r o m di ( 4 a m i n o phenyl) ox ide and 1, 2 d i ( 4 a m i n o p h e n y l ) e t h a n e .
