THE RYGG-KYVSGAARD THERMO-OXYGENATOR A Clinical Trial

We describe the new Rygg-Kyvsgaard disposable oxygenator with built-in heat exchanger (Thermo-oxygen- ator HL 037/DF), which has been successfully used for about 70 perfusions in our department. The results of a detailed investigation of 14 cases are reported. It is con- cluded that thz heat exchanger is satisfactory and gas exchange is comparable to that of previous models. Haemolysis is very modest and blood coagulation and plasma proteins are virtually unaffected. The effects of the changes made in the filters of the oxygenator will be described in a separate paper.
