Luminescence of Gd3+ ions doped in oxyfluoroborate glass

Abstract This paper presents the results of one- and two-photon absorption followed by fluorescence for the Gd3+ ions doped in oxyfluoroborate glass. Fluorescence from the levels lying near 60,000 cm−1 has been reported. The lifetime of the high lying levels has also been measured. The concentration quenching and the mechanism responsible for energy transfer are discussed.
