The method comprises the steps that the server generates a session identifier for a client in a handshake process with the client, sends the session identifier to the client, generates symmetric key relevant information according to a pre-master encrypted string returned by the client, and correspondingly stores the session identifier and the symmetric key relevant information in a preset memory; in a secondary handshake process of the server and the client, when the server can acquire the session identifier from the client, the server inquires the symmetric key relevant information corresponding to the session identifier from the preset memory according to the session identifier; and the server generates a symmetric key according to the symmetric key relevant information, and carries out encrypted data transmission with the client by using the symmetric key. By adopting the SSL session reusing method and system disclosed by the invention, SSL session reuse can be achieved in a cluster.
