On the Occurrence of Nonlinear Dynamic Phenomena in the Hysteresis-Controlled Switched Reluctance Motor Drive

This paper explores the nonlinear phenomena (bifurcation and chaos) exhibited in the hysteresis-controlled switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive, under light load torque and low speed condition. The magnetization characteristics of the machine, modelling of the drive system, and analysis of subharmonic and chaotic behaviors, are presented. The simulation results of the time-domain waveforms, FFT analysis, phase portraits, and bifurcation diagrams are also demonstrated and discussed, which reveal strange nonlinear behaviors within this type of motor drive system.
