Simulation of Rotary Spreader Distribution Patterns

ABSTRACT Acomprehensive simulation model has been developed for single-impeller rotary distributors. The model simulates the discharge of granules onto a rotating im-peller, the motion of the particles on the impeller, the trajectory of the airborne particles, and the ground im-pact point along a line perpendicular to the direction of travel. The results of the simulation have been compared with an experimental study of the R-7X rotary spreader manufactured by O. M. Scott and Sons.
