Optimal constraint management for system operations under neta

The New Electricity Trading Arrangements implemented in England and Wales impose new challenges for the National Grid as the system operator to operate and manage the transmission system. This paper presents the development of a system constraint management program, which addresses the aspects of optimising the 'balancing mechanism units' to resolve the system constraints. The post-fault generation redispatch forms the basis for the constraint management, for which computer algorithms have been developed.
