A tale of two corneal tattoos

470 CAN J OPHTHALMOL—VOL. 44, NO. 4, 2009 noncaseating epithelioid granuloma formation. Audiovestibular manifestations associated with sarcoidosis primarily result from vestibulocochlear neuropathy, which may be due to a basilar meningitis or a cerebellopontine angle mass; however, in our patient, audiovestibular dysfunction resulted from inner ear inflammation with very subtle neuroradiologic findings. A thorough diagnostic evaluation, including audiometry, MRI, and high-resolution CT scanning, was extremely helpful in elucidating the etiology of our patient’s unusual symptom complex of anterior uveitis, deafness, and gait disturbances. Early recognition of neurosarcoidosis may help to prevent permanent disability.
