A PIXE system for commercial applications

Abstract A PIXE system has been built at Studsvik Nuclear, which performs routine multi-elemental analysis both internally and externally on a commercial basis. The basic design of the system is described. The quality control in analytical service and the inherent competitive strength of the PIXE technique are emphasized. The problems encountered in popularizing the technique among other user groups than nuclear physicists are discussed.
