Wearable Body-to-Body networks for critical and rescue operations — The CROW2 project

This paper provides an overview of the project Critical and Rescue Operations using Wearable Wireless sensor networks (CROW2) and discusses the related research challenges and upcoming objectives. The project objective is to provide ubiquitous wireless communication and monitoring systems enabling life-critical and rescue operations. In this context, it is envisioned that wearable Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) will play an important role, and opportunistic exploitation of both On-Body and Body-to-Body communications will enable beyond state-of-the-art and cross-layer communication architecture for wearable WSNs.
