The Finite-Size Effects of the Threshold of Epidemic Spreading on Complex Networks

By making use of the susceptible-infected-susceptible dynamic model,we studied the effect of the finite size of some typical complex networks on the epidemic thresholds. The results show that in the small-world network and the structured scale-free network, the epidemic thresholds are independent of networks' size;however,in the randomly growing network,Barabasi-Albert network and the Internet, with networks' size increasing the epidemic thresholds gradually decrease, but follow different rules in different networked structures.
