A generalized spatial correlation-based algorithm for self-cohering large antenna arrays

It is shown that the entire spatial correlation class of algorithms can be characterized by one general algorithm called the generalized spatial correlation algorithm (GSCA). All the other correlation-based algorithms are shown to be different realizations of the GSCA. In the present work, the GSCA is first derived and then the problem of calibrating an array with this algorithm using data acquired in the near field of the array is addressed. This is extremely important since most high-resolution systems operate in the near field of the array. Finally, the relationships between the existing spatial correlation algorithms and the GSCA are presented.<<ETX>>
