Multimedia streaming service system and method for the same

An apparatus and a method for providing a multimedia streaming service are provided to inform the first contents server about a change in a network environment, receive information about the second contents server included in a changed network from the first contents server, and receive multimedia streaming service from the second contents server. A first contents server(12) is located in the first network and provides a current multimedia streaming service. A second contents server(22) is installed in a second network adjacent to the first network. When a mobile terminal(30) passes through an overlap area between the first and second networks and if it detects a change in a network connection environment, the mobile terminal transmits changed network connection environment information to the first contents server. When a URL(Uniform Resource Locator) of the second contents server is received from the first contents server, the mobile terminal terminates the current multimedia streaming service with the first contents server, and receives a multimedia streaming service from the second contents server.
