Resilient team processes in high-risk environments - Analyzing team work behaviors in critical situations in a nuclear power plant.

Quantitative: • Positive relations between performance and team mental model as well as explicit coordination, and negative relation between performance and information overload • Explicit coordination is related to proficiency aspects of performance • Team mental model as a form of implicit coordination is positively related to adaptivity and proactivity dimensions of performance Qualitative: • Differences between teams with highest vs. lowest performance rating by the instructors: The best team appeared to apply more synchronization behavior of team members and work processes, i.e. they acted as one team during the training sessions instead of different, less coordinated sub-teams. • Adaptive coordination mechanisms seem to be a central factor for the nuclear power plant teams of our study to successfully cope with critical situations.
