Investigation of the transmission line impedance effects on voltage quality and flicker emission for grid connected to wind turbines

This paper presents an analysis of the transmission line impedance effect of X/R ratio on voltage quality for grid connected to wind turbines. By employing power flow analysis, the causes for voltage deviation and fluctuation are discussed and the investigation is taken to address the confusions about the effect of X/R ratio. A simulation model of a MW-level fixed speed wind turbine developed in Matlab/Simulink and PLECS co-simulation environment. Conclusions are drawn through detailed simulation studies.
