Utilising Mobile Wireless Network Technologies to Support an Intelligent Sensor Information System for Public Transport Safety

This paper examines a number of wireless technology platforms for the Intelligent Sensor Information System (ISIS) project. ISIS focuses on increasing public safety and security on public transport such as buses. It adopts an active approach for monitoring CCTV cameras in order to reduce incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour. The communications challenge is to identify a suitable commercial wireless platform that can, among other things, consistently support streaming CCTV video from a moving bus in an urban environment.
