Introducing probabilistic models for redundant system reliability

In this paper, probabilistic models for repairable redundant network flow systems have been developed to analyze the impact of reliability measures on system performance. Explicit expressions for steady-state availability, busy period of repairman and profit function for the five redundant network flow systems are developed. The approach is based on the first order linear differential equations due its simplicity in implementation by maintenance managers, reliability engineers and system designers. The developed models will help in determining the maintenance policy, which will ensure the maximum overall availability, mean time to system failure (MTSF) and profit of the system.
