Design and analysis of distributed Raman temperature sensing system based on single-mode fiber

For the first time a distributed Raman temperature sensing system based on single-mode (SM) fiber is proposed in this paper to achieve long distance sensing. The schematic of the measure system has been described. Especially we have discussed the design process of optical splitting module. With the analysis of the whole system we present the reason of use EDFA in the design. We have shown that with 1550nm probe pulse laser being amplified to approximate 300mW, 1465nm Anti-Stokes light and 1665nm Stokes light can achieve several tens of nW and several hundreds of nW respectively.
