Multiple-Polarized UHF RFID System for UAV Wireless Item Management

Multiple-polarized ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) wireless item management is presented in this paper. The system has the RF sensing part on UAV and data acquisition part on the server. A sensing part consists of the polarization selective antenna, UHF RFID reader module, and zigbee module for transmitting data to the server. For minimizing the polarization loss, the proposed sensing part perform the sensing by changing the quadruple-polarization modes such as two linear polarizations and two circular polarizations. The server is able to transfer the command for operating RF sensing system and receive the RFID tag information. These two parts of the system communicate airborne UAV to server. To demonstrate wireless item management, the proposed system is implemented and verified by the two differential experiments.
