Rubin Finally Enters Service

Technology implementation of the world's first subway line in which both conventionally-driven and driverless trains share part of the line is presented. Nuremberg, Germany's Rubin project, opening two years later than planned, is run by Nuremberg Transport (VAG). The main contractor supplying the new DT3 trains, as well as the driverless operation signaling and safety system and entire operations control, is Siemens. The platform protection system is the responsibility of Honeywell. Rubin's operating principles, supervision system, and obstacle detection systems are all discussed by the author.
