Variable-voltage Energy Saving Strategy for Three-phase Induction Motor in Oil Pump jacks

As the loads of oil pump in oil fleld are changing frequently, a three-phase induction motor that drives the loads often operates under light-load conditions. As a result, the e-ciency of the system is low and electric energy is wasted greatly. This paper discusses the possibility of adjusting voltage for the purpose of energy saving, deduces the optimal variable-voltage coe-cient and gives a variable-voltage energy saving strategy for the induction motor. The strategy lays a theoretical foundation for e-ciency improvement and cost reducing of induction motor in operation. The correctness of the method has been proved by experimental results.
