The purpose of this study was to analyze the biomechanical variables of Retire Passe for expert and beginner ballet dancers. Sixteen female ballet dancers participated in this study(age, 23.13±2.78 years; height, 165.00±6.93cm; mass, 49.25±3.92). They were divided into an expert group and a beginner group depending on their ballet experience. Descriptive data were expressed as mean±standard deviation for all variables. An independent t-test was conducted to determine how the following variables differed: the duration time, position of the center of gravity, angle of the hip, torque of the hip, and muscle activity. All comparisons were made at the p<0.05 significance level. The results show that the expert group showed a long duration time compared to the beginner group. The center of the gravity was moved to backward in the expert group compared to the beginner group. In the hip torque, the experts lift their hip in the side direction, however, the beginners lift their hip to the forward. During the position of the Passe, the experts bent their left knee more compared to the beginners. The experts" gastrocnemius was more active than beginners. The findings of this study demonstrate that the beginner group lift their right leg to forward to have better the center of the gravity.
