L2-stable velocity ripple minimization in PM synchronous motors

Abstract This paper is concerned with velocity ripple minimization in permanent magnet synchronous motors. We present a controller which can be seen as an extension to this control problem of the standard field oriented control scheme. We present a formal stability proof which proves that the closed loop system is globally L 2 - stable . This is performed by taking into account and simultaneously both the mechanical and the electrical subsystem of the motor. This is the first time that such a stability proof has been presented for this control problem.
