High Gain Microstrip Array Antenna for Automotive Radar

This paper elaborates the design procedure of planar microstrip array antenna for Long Range Automotive Radar. The design has an impedance bandwidth 2GHz which is enough for automotive application. The antenna has the max gain of 24.36 dBi, the half power beamwidth of 12.8°, the side lobe of 22.6 dB, the aperture efficiency of 42.2% and the radiation efficiency of 76.65% at the frequency of 76.5 GHz. As the structure is easy to fabricate and its cost is very cheap, this type antenna is suitable for automotive radar in commercial application.
