Noise and DC characteristics of power silicon diodes

Abstract Measurements have been performed on six silicon power diodes to observe the correlation between the noise characteristics and other electrical parameters in order to investigate which are good indicators of the quality and hence possible reliability. Shot, 1 f and random telegraph signal noise were observed and could be correlated with different characteristics of the reverse bias I–V curves and the ideality factor in forward bias.
